The 26th Trampoline World Age Group Competitions (WAG) Nov 15-18 was held in Russia, St. Petersburg. There were more than 30 countries-participants, 4 age categories and 3 disciplines.
On November,16 two young American athletes Ksenia Karpushkina( an athlete of Gymnastic School DuSol. Miami, Florida) and Logan Mc Coy achieved much success in synchronized trampoline. Their discipline is quit hard, as athletes are to perform the same elements at the same time without outpacing each other. But the girls coped with this, as they are very talented and hardworking. For example, Ksenia began going for trampoline when she was only 3.5.And when Ksenia was 5 she went to her first competitions. She hasn’t won anything there, but it was the first step to her future victories. Thanks to her strong personality after some years she got the titles of repeated Сchampion of Florida, repeated champion of the Region, as well as the champion of America. So her success at 26th Trampoline World Age Group Competitions was expected.
In their category (Women 11-12) they were competed with 17 couples of girls from 12 countries in the qualification round. They finished the round on the 3d place with 44.45 points after the Russians with 44.6 and the Japanese with 44.48. Ksenia and Logan were not so successful at technique but remained contenders for medals. But then the girls improved their technique and in some hours during the final competitions did their best. As a result they won gold medals with 46.09 points in total. They competed the final competition beautifully with great synchronization, so Japanese girls (45.25 points) and the Dutch (44.23 points) were left behind. After Ksenia and Logan saw the results they were crying and giving thanks to their trainers, parents, audience and all those, who helped them to achieve this success. It was not easy, but very useful and fascinating.
Both girls gained so much experience competing on the international stage. This could them to subjugate new higher tops. Moreover these competitions gave to the American athletes a great opportunity to pull together and form one unified Team USA, as well as to interact with athletes from all around the world.Back to the List
